Any experience with this combination?

Initially I was interested either in T45 or T32 with Power Bounce Grip 2.

Problem is T45 is seldom available. In the past T32's shoe came off... :-(

At worst case I will consider Power Bounce Grip 2 + T32 option, based on how you evaluate the METZ with OM. Help me in this regard.

I havent used the metz but I've used the olympus with non-olympus flashes.
You do not get the TTL flash control of the Olympus system.
(unless the metz has a module for it, I dont know)
You can use the auto-exposure of the flash unit and it will work just fine.

Yes, Metz had an Olympus module, the SCA 321 which was used in conjunction with the 300A adapter cord to permit the OM4 to be used with the Metz 45CT4 flash units.
Unfortunately, my Metz documentation from c2004 mentions no SCA 321 or Olympus OM series cameras, and mentions only the SCA 3202 which works with current E series and C-series cameras.

They are no longer made, but they are available from this and other sources http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-list...N=B00009R8PL&linkCode=asm&tag=cnet_mp-1753-20

I use a T45 a ton. I can't recommend it enough! The flash is simply incredible. Expect to have the battery pack rebuilt, though. There are a couple of us that do the rebuilds. A T32 with the grip is not a bad combo. Another option is a Vivitar 5800.

Ken, you say that you and a few others do battery replacement on T45 packs. Is this a service that you offer?
I loved my T45, but have long ago retired it due to dead batteries. If this is not a service can you direct me to instructions on how to do it?

Thanks Todd.

I used to use my OM2n with a Metz 45 CL3 along with the SCA adaptor. Seemed to work fine, but that 60th sec synchro speed is pretty naff.

Yes, I can rebuild them for USD $120 per pack. Wish it wasn't quite so much, but they weren't engineered to ever be taken apart. I do match cells too. I order extra cells and reject about 15%. Unless otherwise requested I rebuild them with NiCd cells, but NiMh may be substituted. Longevity of the NiMh cells will be compromised in the standard charger unless you very carefully monitor the charge.

The NiCd cells I'm using right now are giving about a 50% improvement in quantity of flashes with just a slight increase in recycle time.

I've used Metz CL's throughout my professional life and they are second to none, they have a quality of light that I've never matched with any other gun. I've used them on OM's. Just one suggestion, unless you use the camera body together with the winder, then you might find it an unbalanced combination. That 1/60th flash sync on the OM1 is limiting for fill in, and when the Nikon FM2n became available with its 1/250th sync, I changed systems.
