I picked up an OM-3 in a box of broken cameras for $40 a few months ago.
I'd like to get it repaired if possible, the shutter is still working, though the gearing that connects to the shutter speed ring is off. The electronics also look to be out, too. I love OM's and given the costs of a working OM-3, it seems like it would likely be worthwhile to get it repaired.
Any suggestions for the best place in the US (or Canada) that could do it?
I had an OM 2 repaired by John Hermanson (Camtech) - his website is zuiko.com - his email is omtech1@zoho.com . He is just an Olympus guy. You might want to contact him to discuss. The meter "auto, off, manual" switch broke off and the camera needed a CLA. He replaced the switch and CLAed the camera. It wasn't fast but I can't think of anyone else who would have had the spare parts to fix the camera. He also has a "rush" service for an additional charge -- I used the regular service.
John Hermanson at www.zuiko.com is the dean of Olympus repairmen. If the electronics are out, he may not be able to repair them as parts are no longer available.
