Hi

I got this camera, which doesn't seem to leak any light, but the seals should ideally be replaced. The mirror bumpers also seem to be rather worn and I'd like to replace them too. Originally, the material seems to be open cell foam and rather thin. Right now, I have only closed cell self adhesive foam in 1, 2 and 3mm thickness. Obviously, the last one is too thick, but what about the others? And since I am completely clueless, does open vs closed cell make any difference? Perhaps stiffness?

Thanks in advance

I just replaced the light seals on my OM-2N last week. The mirror bumpers that came with the kit are indeed open-cell foam, and they measure ~1.5mm thick. There isn't much deflection when the mirror rests on them, either.
Being that the bumpers are primarily for handling the mirror impact, I'd feel comfortable replacing them with the 2mm foam that you have. I don't know much about the mechanics of the OM cameras, but I can't picture any issues arising from the mirror hanging at a slightly lower angle when raised. If worse comes to worst, you may be able to shave 0.5mm off of the 2mm foam you have.

There won't be any issues with using 2 mm foam, that's what I used on all my OM bodies. Didn't even have self-adhesive one so I put some glue on top of those two millimeters.
