It's a great item. I have the top-of-the-line IS-3000 version. It has great optics, with an integral 35 to 180mm lens. I'm not sure what zoom range the 100 version has. They were made around 1993 to 1996 or so. Mine has required servicing a couple of times, usually related to various electronics, but I would still buy one if the price were low enough.
Thanks for responding, Kevin.
I didn't realize there was a whole "line" of these. They are not mentioned in the Olympus History web page nor on Camerapedia:confused:.
The IS-100 has a range of 28-110mm.
I think I will take a closer look at the one being offered (locally)
.
From what I can tell, so far, they seem to be very similarly featured to the current crop of digital "pro-sumer" cams, as well as the upcoming "EVIL" cams (except they use film and have an OVF, rather than an EVF).
One site referred to them as "ZLR"s (zoom single lens reflex). Actually, this would make a better acronym for the new "EVIL" cams.
Thanks.
