Olympus 35RC battery cover

Hi All, Noobi here, right, i've just bought myself an Olympus 35RC after getting back into film photography, the one problem I have is that the battery cover is missing (i did know this at the time of buying). Now, after a fair search of the web I can't find one. My question is, has anyone got any ideas where I can get one OR could I use a cover from a..say, an OM or another maker ? I'm assuming the cover isn't unique to the RC

Have just checked mine and its the same as my OM1

It was a concern when i bought it so I simply rationalised that it couldn't be unique.

Also checked and the OM10, OM20, OM40 and OM2 (Not the OM2SP) also fit

Of the dozen or so b/w prints I've got enlarged to 10" x 7", framed and displayed in the house I think eight were taken on my Olympus 35RC. The camera is the perfect 'just in case' camera. It's small and light, has a very accurate meter and even if the battery dies (which mine never has) it can be used in manual mode with no worries. I normally keep mine loaded with HP5 and have a Y2 filter semi-permanently attached. The lens is excellent, as one would expect of the Zuiko. Sometimes a film stays in it for a few months and when I develop it there are all kinds of subjects I'd forgotten about!

Thanx for the reply. Yeah, I really like it, its small, easy and the lens is excellent. I've currently got a roll of FOMOPAN 400asa loaded in it and for a camera thats round about 50 years old it performs well.

The battery cover problem I had has been part-fixed. The cover was cross-threaded and would not budge for anything. Tried various ways and had to settle for grinding out a new groove for a screwdriver. It really was that tight in there. Theres zero chance of it ever going back straight as the threads are buggered so I just lightly lightly turned it to get some grip and make contact with the battery. It works fine with no problems. I can see the attraction for these wonderful little cameras. Fits in pocket, quite discrete, almost silent and bloody easy to use.

I've kinda given up on digital as its simply to easy. Perfect shots every time. Tbh you don't even need to look ...just keep firing and you'll get something. I just find it a little boring, theres no 'work' involved so for now the Nikon has been side-lined.

No, all you get is a thousand raw or jpeg files that you run through your "workflow" with your magical AI processing sauce and then wonder why your pictures look just like the thousands from the other button pushers who uploaded to Flickr or wherever.

Those covers are often interchangeable. I have an Olympus 35RC and the battery cover fits my Canon F1 and also my Gossen Lunasix meter...

So you can fit the cover from another machine.

...and thats why I called time on the digital stuff. Just f...yeah, got bored with it. I never really go mad in PS, just a touch of contrast etc but thats it. I don't do 'replacing the sky' BS. Why ? it wasn't there when I took the photo...ha ha ha ha. People actually love it....oh well...hoorah for us

I sort of guess they would be but I could potenyially spend a bundle on covers and get nowhere. Turns out the OM's fit so i'll go down the route.

Just to mention it, sky replacement has a long history in film. That's been a thing photographers have done for some hundred and sixty odd years.

I am also not one for photo manipulation, but that's a choice independent of film vs digital.
