I got recently this 35 ED from my grandfathers
I think is a nice camera to start in the world of analog photography, but my problem is, its not turning on after battery placement.
As standard it uses RM-640 mercury battery (banned) but i found on other websites it is still usable with LR-44 1.5v x2 batteries, so i did the following:
1 slot have 2x LR44 batteries in a paper tube with metal scrappings to fit the space, and the other slot just has metal scraps.
Now sadly i havent been nable to power on the camera so i took the following troubleshoot (this is also my first time opening a camera im a noob
)
After a first inspection i found the terminals were a little bit greasy and sulfated, so i cleaned them with white vinegar.
After that it didnt hold any results so i open the camera and took the battery housing out, to try the electric current with a tester outside of the camera, one of the terminals is cooked, the battery housing shoes current when i connect them using a little screw as a terminal or so.
Now, that was plain and simple, but upon further inspection i saw the cables under the battery housing, and they are first of all, extremely sticky, and the negative (blue) cable looks like its not making contact.
Should i peel it and center it in the spot where it should land with the battery housing contact? should i check something else besides this? im trying to not disassemble the camera more than i should honestly.
Thank yall for answering
