I have come into possession of an Olympus 35-S that's in pretty good condition, but it could stand a good cleaning and I think there's something loose in the rangefinder, since when I focus it it will not do anything and then with a little clink the rangefinder yellow glass will drop into place. It's a very pretty little camera and I'd like to use it, but I'm not sure it can be relied on...

Does anyone know where I might be able to to find a parts manual or a repair manual for this one? Mike Butkus doesn't have one posted on his site. Or maybe I'll just dive into it and see if I can't puzzle it out after I'm done with the Retina Reflex I'm arguing with right now.

Dive away! If the mask is moving around the glue holding it most likely
gave up the ghost.

I've sent some of my Oly rangefinders to KEH. They have a quick turnaround and good prices.

This forum (as well as others) really needs to have a sticky for listing repairers and folks' experience with them.

It is easy to remove the top. Look here:

This one is for the SII, but it is pretty much the same for the S. Hopefully there is nothing loose in there, but a stuck range finder. Wash gently with lighter fluid the pivot points of the moving rangefinder parts and you are done.
Take care not to wipe with any solvents the silvered and yellowed surfaces.
