I have recently bought an Olympus 35 ECR camera and in order to date it, I tried the same as holds for Olympus trip cameras - I took out the pressure plate to look for a date code. The code is a Japanese character followed by 2Z. Am I safe in assuming that this is the same code as on the trip cameras; i.e. 1972, December? If that is right, does the same code work on all Olympus cameras? (I am thinking about my OM10).
The date is about right but I do not know for sure. That camera is a little gem, but, unfortunately it does not allow for manual settings.
There is something utterly refined about the Olympus RF cameras that (I am going to get into trouble here) more than makes up for their SLRs. - David Lyga
In addition to needing to get very creative with the batteries, the Electronic Controlled Oly's have unfortunately not stood the test of time. I have a complete set (with several duplicates), including the rare, black EC. Maybe one of them still works. The sweet little RC's, as well as all the larger mechanical pro series 35's are all still clicking away like when they were new.
