I have a Pentax H1a, rescued from a dumpster and then stored by me for some years.
It seems to have seen little use but does not work, no doubt from decades of benign neglect. I'd like to photograph with it. Can anyone recommend a repair shop? Not a complex machine, I know, but perhaps there's a Pentax specialist out there somewhere (in the USA).

Eric Hendrickson is the one I see mentioned most often. Typically you can send him the camera and get a free estimate. Can’t vouch for him personally, but he’s highly respected in the world of Pentax repairs.

Eric is Mr Pentax. He's done a number of K-mount and M42-mount bodies and lenses for me, and in particular he overhauled a Pentax SV, which is comparable vintage to the H1a. Note the list of items that he currently accepts:

Thanks all! Now I have no excuses left...

Not sure where you are, but in Los Angeles there's a shop called Camera Max up in Montrose that was highly recommended. I just (today!) picked up two cameras he repaired for me (a Nikon FE and a Pentax MX). Haven't run film through them yet, but the bits that were broken when I brought them in are now working. The repair prices were, I think, very reasonable. I have other cameras that need repair and if all goes well with these two I'll go back to him.

That feels good, doesn't it..... to get cameras back from the tech, seeing what was done, and knowing and experiencing the improvement.?
I just got a few returned from Zacks. Canon F1-New and Minolta X-570. Both were in desperate need of a CLA.
Nothing worse than having doubts about your gear.
