Great informational site ladies and gentlemen, I found APUG by accident last week when I was searching for film processors.

I was heavy into 35 mm cameras and SLR's back in the 70's and early 80's but drifted away due to lifestyle changes (meaning divorce). Later I played with digital until now, owning a D90 Nikon.

However I am easing back onto film: Now pulling my SLR's out of storage and checking operation of each. Even purchased a pack of Fuji 400 to test the cameras and a couple of packs of Portra for more serious attempts at capturing light.

I am not a photographer in the sense as many of you but I just enjoy using the vintage film cameras and "slowing down" with film photography instead of the instant gratification of digital.

Way back I was interested in Fred Picker's Zone 6 system, bought his book and did a little medium format shooting with a Mamiya C330, which I still have with the Poro Prism and the 135 f 4.5 lens group.

I will mainly be shooting outdoors: Wildlife, scenic Mountains, snow packs, anything that captures my attention. Although I have thousands of photos stored away, most are on Kodachrome. In the future I may post some of the Portra work but that is yet to happen: I have not exposed any film yet!

I may post some digital images of the equipment if acceptable by the group here.

Thanks to all for such a great information base.

Oh, the screen name, Mako John? My main hobby is salt water fishing, the boat is a Mako built in 1977. Not only am I old, but both my boat and the photo gear are also ancient! Shown below, apologies for a digital taken with a point and shoot.

Welcome from the Olympic mountains myself I live in Forks, Wa. I have been shooting mostly with my Hasselblad but I just bought a new Chamonix 4x5 camera and waiting here for a couple lenses to arrive before i take it out.

You will see, we got the whole range, from the engineer to the artist.

Hi Terry. As you know, we live in an area that will keep a photographer very busy. Like the statements of the post a few days ago "In Your Back yard". Years ago when I was young and much stronger I would disappear into the wild Olympics to search for Elk to photograph. Main cameras were a Nikon F2 wearing a 200mm Nikkor and a F3 wearing a Nikkor 500mm mirror lens. Along with the trusty Cullmann 2903 tripod. Had lots of fun along with exposing the Kodachrome.

"mama don't take my Kodachrome away"

Yep love it here. When I was younger it was all about fishing and hunting and I did like every good Forks boy after graduating high school I started working in the Log woods. So being outdoors here has always been a huge part of my life. Of course now it all centers around photography.

A wonderful place. The north park boundary is 4 miles up the hill from my home. I can view the snow capped Hurricane Ridge from the driveway. Time to dig out the 800mm Soligor and look for a sunrise impacting the slopes!
