Old guy goes retro

Old Dude

I'm retired, and have the leisure to brew my coffee in a Chemex. Today I went into our storage shed and pulled down a box of photo equipment belonging to my late mother. My brother had sent the box to me after she died, and I kept it—almost deciding to send it back.
I pulled out two cameras—one of which is an OM3. In the dim past, I had owned a Pen FT half frame, an OM1 and an OM2N. Had owned is the operative, sad word.
The OM3 has a 50mm 1.8 lens. I have some well outdated TriX. I have ordered batteries. Time to slow down and really take photos.
PI do have digital cameras, which I like, but there is something about the mechanics of a true classic.

I had a chemex once, but it broke, with that flared lip of glass sticking out all the time.... Now you've got the time to wash it... If i remember, it wasn't easy...

You might want to consider betting your OM-3 serviced. They were discontinued in 1986 or 1987, so they would all be around 20 years old.

Ah what a great camera! Treat it well, and it will treat you well.

Interstingly, i just posted a question about suggestions for espresso machines.. what is a chemex?

Googling Chemex will get you enough pix and facts.... basically a wide-mouth flask, you put the paper filters in the top. From the '60's I think. Expensive, like the OM-3.
