Well, I've been away from the forum for a while because for the last 2-3 years have been restoring a house that has taken all my spare time. So today as we are very near the end I had a couple of hours to spend, and a small stack of films sitting there undeveloped.

picked up 1 x delta 100-120 and 1 x delta 400-135. Only have some adonal and it's gone as black as anything. Had to cut the bottle because the safety lid wouldn't open and decant - lots of crud in the bottom. Fixer has started to crystallize and smell acidy, but still cleared some test film scraps.

Both films developed to spec, and both turned out perfect, which just goes to show you can get very precious about fresh chems.

We're moving soon to the new house, and it will be a while before I get the new darkroom built, but I'll be back in due course participating as before.

Just as many folks run into severe problems with chemicals that don't look half as bad as you describe.
"My grandma lived to the ripe age of 90 smoking a pack a day, goes to show it ain't all that bad for you."

Unfortunately I feel it may only go to show that it wasn't all that bad for your grandma as opposed to the population at large. She along with many others in absolute numbers enjoyed a long life but in percentage terms I fear that the story is they are in a tiny minority.

I am 88 and 90 doesn't seem that old. Tried smoking back in my 20s but every morning after smoking the day before, my mouth tasted like a little dog had come during the night and did his business in it so I quit. Knew a photographer who got banned from his company's darkroom because he, without thinking, lit a cigarette in the the dark in the darkroom while the company's chief photographer was developing 8 x 10 sheet film.........Regards!

I suppose Adonal / Rodinal concentrate could be used without a problem for many years. I have doubts that your fixer was good enough for archival permanence of your film though..

It cleared some test film scraps just fine, and pretty much at the speed I would expect. Gave it extra time as well. I expect it will be fine - as I say, not ideal, just a report - the films were not that precious - wouldn't have risked it if they were.
