Old Cameras in Old Movies

Arsenal Kiev II
electronic Flash (unidentified, but easy to recognize reflector-housing as a hint)

"Case No. 306" crime-movie , USSR , 1956

Used by police accident-investigation team, with the photographer/forensic technician being one of the main characters.

The Kiev II has no synch contact, only the model Kiev IIa has. The actress thus triggers the flash by the test switch.
She likely is beyond min. focusing distance..

here is the generator lacking:

In her forensic lab the camera devices are within glass casings:

The Crown is crawling with Leicas, Rolleiflexes, Hasselblads..

What is funny is the Rolleiflex sounds like it has a motordrive, and the Leica M3 makes a very loud clack as if it is a Kiev!

In "The Queen's Gambit" there's a scene with a Rolleiflex. The shutter is way too loud and he just keeps winding and winding

Photo 7 looks like a large format camera on a microscope. Maybe a LOMO microscope.

Yes, a microscope camera. In this thread I already hinted at two Leitz camera-microscope showing up in other movies.

GOMZ Smena 8

A tourist, the main character, keeping the lens cap on... a joke this comedy-movie had to take in.
As he is sporting his camera in the everready-case, the cap does not make sense anyway...

"The Diamond Arm" , USSR , comedy , 1968

Actually, I keep the cap on my Jupiter 8 when my Kiev 4 is in the everready case. Cuts down the amount of dust that lands on the front element (much of which is from the velveteen lining of the drop-down front case section).

Well, I stand corrected.
I dust off the linings.

@AgX I don't know any way to get all the dust out of a near fifty year old velveteen lining. Not sure such exists.

Bolex SM8 Super8 sound-projector

To me it seems small-gauge projectors rarely show up in movies.

"La prima notte di quiete" drama , Italy , 1972

Twin-image rear-projection episcope

Not actually a photographic item, but I find it interesting nonetheless. The two images can be seen solely but also until they overlap. The weird thing though is that the device got two monitors.

Used for autograph comparison at a police headquarter.

"Sicilian Protection" , crime movie , USSR , 1980

By lack of a new camera model, does a camera cardboard box count too?
Anyway, as I never saw such show up in any movie, you get it. And a reflector photo-lamp too.

I also found a drum dryer/ferrotyper.

"Marry a Captain" love-movie about a young photographer , USSR , 1986

Now we have Donald at 74 with Melania at 50., they started dating when she was 28.. not much difference from Fred and Audrey in the movie!

Darkroom Wall Timer

A new tennant moves in and and brings in his (unidentified) enlarger, but also his wall timer, which he uses in minutes intervalls to control his mornings shedule. Which brings his neighbour near to madness.

"Step Forward" episodes-comedy , USSR , 1975

Well, and not surprisingkly a Zenit shows up too. This time a Zenit 3M

A darkroom installed in the corner of a small room seemingly without running water, yielding space for small prints from uinidentified enlarger. With paper drying and cutting with guillotine knive in the living room.

"Bouquet at the reception" TV crime-movie , USSR , 1978

Portrait photographer doing fine-mechanical repairs in his shopwindow in Georgia.

See also the back of the studio camera at the left.

"Mimino" comedy , USSR , 1977

May have been mentioned before..
A cable channel is looping the movie "It's a Wonderful Life", and I am peeking at it here and there, often catching the plot in reverse!
At one point, the main character, Mr Bailey, comes back to his house in the normal side of life. Some folks are waiting for him, including a news guy with some Graflex camera, hard to tell which, a very fast scene. The movie was made in 1946.

Pentacon Praktica IV

with camouflaged designation: blackening of lettering at both sides, leaving only "AKTIC"

"It does not work without HiFi" , episode of a west-german customs-investigators TV-series , 1979

setting: used by west-german customs-investigator at observation

Unidentified camera - very similar to Minolta 16 MG

"It does not work without HiFi" , episode of a west-german customs-investigators TV-series , 1979

setting: used by disguised west-german customs-investigator at observation

Sad to say, that's most likely a fairly generic 110 camera -- though it's just about possible it's a Minolta-16 or Yashica-16 format piece (but surely not an actual Minolta).

I do not know any type 110 camera with any resemblance, so I rather would stick to 16mm. And your hint at Yashica was good.

I am sure it is a Yashica Atoron.

Quite some gear...

"born Lipowski" episode from crime series "Interpol" , West-Germany , 1967

Kodak Retinette 37 or 45
Used to take a pass-photo on sea!

Minox C
This time not for spy-photos! But for memory-photos of having opened a business.

Leitz Leicina 8S

Well, a few days ago I said small gauge projectors are rare in movies...
