Okanagan Valley, BC

I am planning on going to the Okanagan Valley in a few weeks with plans to photograph.

Anyone here have some favorite locations you would like to share?

Restaurants, Brew Pubs other neat things to see or do?

The Kettle Valley Railroad bed near Kelowna is a great place to walk or ride a mountain bike. Very scenic. Gorgeous in October, but you'll be too soon for the fall foliage obviously.

There are some interesting pictures to be had in the southern part of the valley, e.g. on the Inkameep Indian reservation. Lots of roads wandering around.

I haven't lived there in 20 years so I don't know what restaurants I'd recommend.

Kokanee beer is brewed nearby - if you've not had it, you should try some.

There have been major issues with forest fires the past few years. If fire-damaged forests seem interesting to you (in black and white they might be great subjects), they are all around, especially near Kelowna. A major fire hit Kelowna a few years ago. Another one is currently burning in West Kelowna, across the lake.

I'll be there in February, so while I will not be seeing Fall Colors [pardon me, Fall Colours] I am interested in things to see when I am not skiing.

There is a strong and vibrant wine industry in the Okanagan, so if you like wine, it is a great place to visit (and taste). Some of the larger wineries are quite elaborate, while some of the smaller, more out of the way wineries are quite interesting and funky.

There is a Wine Festival about that time - if your trip coincides with the dates of the Festival you should be sure to confirm your accommodation arrangements ahead of time.

The Okanagan has a wide variety of micro climates, so there are a wide variety of experiences.

the switchbacks in the highway at the south end, where it decends into the valley would be something nice to take in from the opposte (west) side of the valley, if the right location and a long telephoto could be had.
