... I need a memory prod here.

Back in the early 1980's, AGFA had a slide to print system that used only one chemical step. IIRC, the paper was exposed through the base side which of course required that the slide be projected in reverse.

Does anyone remember the process and its name?

AGFA had the Agfachrome Speed Process - a dye diffusion process - from 1983-85
