I really, really don't need this, - I already have a Retina IIIS and 3x lenses. Just for a lark I bid £5 on a nice looking Retina Reflex S... and won it for £3.76 plus a few quid postage. Sold as spares or repair, Apparently "it was working until the rewind jammed and the mirror stuck up". I see from the photo the counter is down to zero. I wonder........... Place your bets :tongue:

Hey, I bought a whole set of retina lenses before I had a camera to put them on, was going to use an adapter to my EOS.
Except I bought before I researched properly, ended up buying not only the later lenses that can go on other SLRs, but also some of the earlier 'front cell' lenses for earlier cameras.
Rather than just re-sell the lenses, I just bought a camera for them.

Now I have a Retina Reflex S with 35/50/80/80 (yes, I bought two 80mm lenses), and a Retina Reflex IV with 28/35/50/50/135. Wanna buy some more?

At least yours was a better price. I'm putting my money on it is actually borken, but for that price who cares?

At that price it is not GAS, just a lark.

Good for you. I commend you on supporting the used camera market. Now shoot more film.

Now shoot more film

Not sure I will shoot any more through this aquisition!. I get a double kick from analogue - I appreciate the mechanics of old things, and enjoy the whole process of darkroom. Certainly doing my bit to support the industry - My spending on supplies every month is many times what I have just spent on this!!

Result! :smile:. It came, and is in great condition but was definitely ill. In for a penny, I started lifting the top - prism off - meter off, and watched how it worked. Realised the mirror wasn't latching but everything else seemed sort of OK. Lo and behold, I spotted the loose end of a hairspring on the mirror latch. Reachable through the film plate window- reseated, and all is good! Firing nicely on all speeds. Prism and focus screen needed disassembly and a clean, and it's looking good. Think I'll put a film in it tomorrow and have a test. It's a far better camera to use my 135mm lens on - this is virtually unusuable on my IIIS because the viewfinder area is so tiny.

Hundreds?!?! Really? Wow, my "collection" (not sure that is the correct term given that all - excepting four "Kodachrome bodies" - see regular use) of 20-odd bodies seems less a case of GAS and more like a little bit of an indulgence...

Good morning, Bradley;

Only 20-odd bodies? That certainly is impressive. Your self-restraint is commendable.

My willpower is not as good as yours. I think I have about that many in just various Nikon bodies. Living near John_Nikon_F can be hazardous. Then there are the Canons. And the argus C3 bodies. And the FEDs, Kievs, Zenits, Zorkis, and some others. And, of course, the Minoltas. I really do need to find a local chapter of Cameras Anonymous.
