Who Knew?

I have been fighting the flash with my Nikon D3000 and a Neewer TT560 speedlight. Originally the intention was for off camera flash and triggering some side lights. I got the AS-15 terminal unit from Nikon, but it would not fire the flash unit from a pc cord. And even stopped firing the flash unit when mounted on the camera hotshoe. The pop up flash naturally worked whether I wanted it or not. Quite by accident I had my finger resting on the pop up flash cover while trying the flash again when it started working. I had discovered that the sync adapter and the flash can be fired from the hot shoe IF the pop up cover is held down! No where in the 196 page Nikon manual is there even a hint of the need to by pass physically the on camera flash...gaffers tape to the rescue!

Yes, I use a small piece of scotch tape, otherwise the little bugger interferes with my intent.
