I acquired a nu arch pulsed xeon printer (N1500), I want to use for large Cyanotypes and perhaps other processes. It didn't come with any cover on the front, and as such spills out an incredible amount of light. I don't want that UV radiation in my space, do people normally put a cover over the front of these things? I have a lot of plywood scraps around, I was thinking of cutting one to shape and painting it black so I could put it over the front while it's on. Are there any reasons not to do so? Heat build up?

Thanks!

The venting on the top should take care of cooling. Yes it would be prudent to put a cover on the front, a simple sheet of luan with weatherstrip around the edges should work. If you are worried about heat buildup underneath baffled vents like the ones for darkroom doors would be fine.

Cool. I'll have to play with it. Good call. Test and adjust as needed. It's wild to think these things were made without front shields, it's incredibly bright.

I might try it with sheet metal, it'd be really cool to set it up with magnets so it can just pop on/off, and the metal would radiate off the heat well.
