Now that we have Acros II, what developer do you like ?

I had built up quite a surplus of Acros original, but focused on working with other films.
When it was discontinued I decided to save it for something special. Not that we have Acros II,
I'm interested in working with Acros to see if it is an emulsion that appeals to me.

So, what developer suggestions and why ?

With Acros I, Perceptol 1+2, 16 min at 75F. Agitate 10" (7 inversions) at 1 min intervals. Haven't tried Acros II.

Leaning toward simple and practical, I use HC110 1+63 as a one shot for just about all my film work, even Xray stuff. The concentrate* keeps a long, long time and I have a "fresh" working batch for each use.

* That said, I'm working from a batch several years old, and even HC110 appears to have gone through some changes in manufacturing sources, so maybe I have a crisis ahead.

sumatranol 130 and ansco 130 split.
because its probably the best developer i have used with acros.
makes for easy printing and scanning

I liked it with Ilfosol 3, more than with Rodinal

Haven't used Acros II, but my favorite developer for the original Acros is Pyrocat-HD 1:1:100 using minimal agitation. I develop for 15 mins @70F, continuous agitation for the first minute, followed by 10 secs agitation at the 3/4, 1/2, and 1/4 marks. Quite pronounced edge effects with this developer and technique.

I shot the new Acros II side by side with the origina Acros. Both were developed @ 100 in Xtol 1+1. Both were identical, save for a touch less shadow detail and a bit higher contrast. I was happy to see this consistency. Beautiful negatives.

On a side note. I shot under moonlight with exposures just over 1000 seconds. Density was remarkably similar, with the nod going to the old Acros. Again, shadows a bit weaker, contrast a touch higher. Not remarkably different however. They are very close.

I shoot Acros at an EI of 64 and develop in RO9 Special (Studional) 1:30 for 9 minutes. I just love this film but haven't tried Acros II yet.
