Notched lensboard for Chamonix?

I’ve been trying to find a recessed Linhof style lens board for the Chamonix 45f-1 I have on the way, but it’s been hard locating any. I did find this one on the classifieds, and it appears to be the right size…I’m just not sure about the notches on the board as the ones on Chamonix’s website lack the notches. Does anyone know if this will fit my new camera?

All Technika boards have those notches. As far as I know, all cameras designed to work with Technika-style boards will work with the original Linhof boards with the notches, so no worries. I'm sure a Chamonix owner will chime in here with hands-on experience.

Be cautious—that board has two holes in the upper left that used to have a release plunger attached. Now that it’s gone, those holes might cause a light leak, depending on your cameras design.

This also brings up the issue of attaching a cable release. That missing plunger is normally set with a thin bent shaft that is fixed so when you don’t need to reach the shutter release on the shutter (which is very hard to access on a recessed board.). Without that, you’ll need to find another way to make the release accessible like a short 3in extension, or a permanantly mounted release cable.

Yeah, I have an extension cable on my Super Angulon 90, which is currently mounted on a recessed Toyo board. So that should be ok. But good point about the holes. I guess if need be I could cover them with card board and duct tape or something.

usually the holes are recessed on the rear. You could get a pair of small flat head screws and matching nuts from the local hardware store. Insert from the rear and add the nuts from the front.

The Linhof boards will usually have an offcenter hole (vertically), due to the Technika camera design. Your Chamonix may need a board with the hole centered, but I don't know for sure. If your camera needs the hole to be centered in the board, you could just use a little front rise to compensate, but it is a bit of a nuisance.

I have no issues with genuine Linhof boards on either my 45F-2 or the 810V Linhof lens board adapter. I have to imagine that will extend to any models that use Linhof boards.
I also haven't needed a recessed board with my 75mm on the 4x5. There is enough give in the 'universal' style bellows that you're not too limited movement-wise.

Works fine, although as others have pointed out, you'll need to cover the two holes.

It does shift the image vertically a bit, due to the off-center hole, but it's easily compensated for.

I filled similar holes on a recessed board with MarineTex black epoxy and then painted over the back with flat black paint. No leaks.
