.....I'm seriously thinking of dropping the dime for it.

Cambo%204x5%20Rail.jpg

Cambo 4x5 monorail. Comes with a case, a Calumet 8½"[215mm]/4.8 (convertible to 14"[355mm]/10!) with an Ilex No 3 shutter and a Calumet 150mm/6.3 with Copal 0. Both lenses are on boards, and a reflex finder/focuser to boot. No film holders, but I have several now.

The only issue I can find so far is one of the springs that holds the back on is very very weak. This means the focus screen is not tight on one side, and it also won't hold the film holders in properly. But I think I can jerry-rig it until I can get a proper fix done.

I haven't tested the shutters for speed accuracy, nor actually run some film through to verify no light leaks, but the bellows is 100% good.

Not the Sinar P2 I've been asking Santa for, but this may satisfy my thirst for a 4x5 rail.

Checking for light leaks, I ran a single sheet through it.

Hmm testing for light leaks, isn't the sheet supposed to be all clear then? Did you remember to close the shutter?

I think 480sparky took a normal picture. And as we are not looking at the negative with backlight, it looks quite overexposed and dark to us. If it is exposed properly, it should be possible to tell if there are light leaks.

It looks overexposed because of the shadow of the negative is behind it. Actually, it's slightly underexposed.

This is the shot that's on it:

You can set it out in the sun 5 minutes with the darkslide out and shutter closed. See what you get. It was a good idea to test you development system, because, otherwise if the negative is blank (as it should be) you might question the processing of the test negative.

The Cambo is a nice kit. I'd go for it. Get some practice in and keep your eyes open for your P2. The Cambo will then be a great field camera.

I already have a Shen Hao HZX-45II for field work.

I was thinking to buy a monorail as well, and i do have that Shen Hao same model as yours, but i am thinking to sell it locally and buy another LF camera that i look for, i was looking for Ebony, but sounds the model i am looking for is gone as brand new, but good that i found another brand with what i look for and hope it will satisfy me.

Nice shot, and nice gear, and i thought i have a lot, i have only 8 [before it was 10] digital cameras and 8 film cameras, not sure how many lenses and i still think i don't have much enough yet! :D
