Ok, so recently I decided ti was time to clean my ground glass. I knew I had a couple of layers of material sandwiched together and I knew I had a fresnel but I don't think I'd had the works apart since about 1990. To my surprise, the two layers were 1) clear glass with the grid pattern painted on and 2) the ground not-glass.

That's right, it's plastic and it's "ground" on once side and it's a fresnel on the other side. Two different surfaces on the same sheet of plastic.

Has anyone seen these before? Who made these? I don't remember if it was stock in my Zone VI or if I put it in.

I bought a fresnel from Calumet for my Zone VI that is exactly like you describe - a sheet of plain glass protecting a plastic sheet that is ground on one side an fresnel on the other.

Ain't technology wonderful.

It sounds like the Maxwell screens. Very bright and easy to focus.
