This year, the last weekend of September (23rd-25th), some of us LF Norwegians will gather in the fairly remote community of Stryn, Nordfjord. The location is chosen parly for it's location halfway between everything, and that it has some of the most spectacular landscapes in Norway. An example is Dead Link Removed from last September.

We hope to bring sufficient machinery and chemicals to develop B&W in any size from 6.5x9cm to 30x40cm (that's 16x12" in English), but probably not colour this time around.

There will be cameras. There will be lenses. I will bring all of mine, and I have lost count... Most of mine are from between 1870 and 1970, so I hope someone will bring something modern too.

Accomodation is plentiful, there are more guest beds than inhabitants there. As soon as we have an idea of how many to expect, we will select the most appropriate place and make the necessary arrangements.

Getting there is slightly more complicated, but we can help. If not, we can at least advise...

Anyone is welcome; contact me for more information as and when available!

Oh by the way: It's not a workshop, but a "gathering". So participation is free.

Sounds like excellent fun! Would love to join you but, it is a bit far...and I've already take my "once in five years" vacation this year. Have fun and let us all see some results.

THIS September? Rather short notice for us Minnesotan's to spring loose. We will already be very busy cutting last-minute hardwood falls for winter heating.

Will you drink beer in 35-mil shooter's skulls ?

Will you practice on axe-throwing using Nikons as targets ?

We would use digihead-skulls, but the capacity is too small for beer

Oh no, not at all!
First of all, Nikon makes LF lenses too. So we would use Canons as targets.
Second, we don't "practice" our axe-throwing - we're born good at it! :D

Hmm It sounds tempting and it could be fun to try out LF but I'm afraid its addictive.

Ole, i'll try my best to get there, and bring my toys with me !

If you have what is needed to develop 4x5 in e-6, that would be amazing, but I can settle for a place to re-charge my film holders...

PJ, I don't have the chemicals. But I do have a little JOBO CPE-2 with drums and 4x5" spool, no lift though. I'll see if I can get hold of those chemicals too.

A dark room (note: Not darkroom) will be provided. Last year I changed films outdoors at night, it was darker there than in my darkroom at home!

I'm really aiming this at b&w, so I will be bringing a boxfull of raw chemicals (metol, phenidone, pyro, pyrocat, glycin, and the usual bromide, sulfite, thiosulfates and alkalis). An enough for some cyanotypes, van dykes, POP and such. That saves me bringing a complete darkroom - I doubt I could fit the enlarger into my car!

My biggest contact printing frame is 8x10". I do have a bigger one, but a 40x60" vacuum frame is not really portable...

Don't bother with the E-6 chemicals, I'll bring back the film and get them processed back home...

(for the contact print frame, it would be nice to have something bigger, since there seems to be a couple of ULFers going up there, but we can always all print back home, and concentrate on shooting and developping film over the weekend ..)

I've done my once-every-four-years vacation too, but I have decided ENOUGH already with the punishment. I hate to see another person go through the same. Come on, Brad, there's got to be a way you can break loose next year. Life is short!

Looking good Ole...

Really looking forward to it, thinking it over, I think i'll travel "light" anly bring the 4x5... (I have to make a choice between getting a film holder for the 11x14 or going up to Norway, and I choose travel over film real estate... )

Morten - I see you've even divulged my patented bluberry jam film mounting process!

Thanks for the pix - and thanks to you and all the others who were there for a great bunch of strange people!

Strange people? Which of us are you calling strange Ole? The only strange people I met over there were fellow car drivers. Can you imagine what it's like to go from a country where driving at 90mph (144 kph) on the motorway is normal, to a place where no one exceeds the 80 kph (50 mph) limit? It was like driving in treacle.

OMG you mean I would have to slow down if I drove there? My mouth runs faster than 50mph

It's just so the shock of getting on the real roads won't be too big! I didn't notice many attempts at doing more than 80 kph on those roads?
