John, I finally had a chance to catch up with this... Glad to hear your show will be running for so long. I'll definately make it over at some point during that time. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm not in a position to commit to coming over for the "reunion" just yet. Between work and some health issues my father is having I won't know until probably a few days before. I'll do my best to make it for at least a day trip. Great company you keep and thanks again. Shawn

. I might end up just driving over during the week when the color might be good just on my own. I'd rather shoot with you guys, but the stars might not align properly for it.

I hope if it comes to this that you will let Dolly and me know you are here. We would love to meet for a meal or just sit by the pond and talk. The deer are still walking by the willow tree, so I don't think the mountain lion is pressing our neighborhood yet. We have learned that when we see rabbits they have not seen coyote.

Thanks Shawn. Come if you can and when you can. There is always a patch of grass for your tent and a pot of coffee for the conversation, inside or out.

Come to think of it we should make a run to the Country Maid to see if the cidar is in. Jeff, have you already checked?

APUG NE Ohio Reunion I, Friday, September 17th – Sunday, September 19th

I thought we should once again try to get organized and see who is coming later this week. If you did not make the first event in the middle of September, but wished you had, come to this one. PM me and I will send directions.

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources will post a Fall Color report in the next 24 hours which I will copy and paste here. The weather changes rapidly at this time of year, aided by this being the highest spot in NE Ohio and Lake Effect. I will post anything that looks different from today’s long range forecast as it comes out.

This is what I have been told about who is coming, and when. Please add any changes to the thread. Camping is available as before from Thursday evening on. Eight local motels are listed earlier in the thread.

Coming:
Bob Steckmeyer, Ann Durham (wife), Gideon (Shih Tzu Dog) ”We are planning on driving up early Saturday and staying through Sunday. Gideon will also attend.”

Shawn Dougherty “it looks like I'll come over sometime Saturday afternoon (hopefully for dinner) and spend the evening BSing with everyone. Sleep in the car (it's only one night,” Get this boy a pillow.

Dorothy Kloss: “Friday & Saturday off. So I'm going to try and make it.”

Dale Marsh, Ic-racer “Count me in. On the 19th I'll be checking out the Photorama as it is still mostly analog.”

Bethe Fishe, Winger, “I might make it.” Is the best detail I could get out of one post and four emails received.

Bannows, “Eva & I (Jeff) are trying to work in a visit - we would love to see the fall colors of penuchi, black cherry and mint chip again! I will report in as the schedule firms up.”

Waiting to hear:
Lee Lumpkin may be son sitting
Peter Spangenberg said he was coming. Waiting for confirmation.
Paul Armstrong ?

Bring anything new that you have printed since we last showed and told. I have a bunch of new 7x17 canal pictures, shot and printed since I delivered the thirty images to the museum show, Oct. 1.

I hope you will all come. We had a great time in September.

We are staging a rematch: October 17, 18 and 19

John, your first gathering was an immensely enjoyable weekend. Wonderful company, a great setting and the epitome of the gracious host.

I will try to make it out again, but likely as a day-visitor.

If anyone coming is looking for a cheap 4x5, let me know. I have a monorail and a Speed Graphic I am looking to unload, and I could bring them along if needed.

Eva & I are in. We will be there Saturday morning, staying the night in John's darkroom and leaving Sunday afternoon after hitting Country Maid.

Lets see, where did I put that pad lock?

I meant to say, "I have the world's greatest deal - a monorail and Speed Graphic that (may have been) used by Ansel Adams himself! Guaranteed to better pictures or your money back! (money back guarantee only valid in southern Guam) Supplies are limited, act now!"

what is Photorama? do we have any details on that?

thanks!

From a few pages back:
My schedule for the weekend will be determined by some combination of the score of a high school soccer game on Thursday evening, two doctors appointment outcomes today and Friday, the time it takes to get over a cold, and likely a half dozen other unforeseen factors. Put me down as Heisenberg^256. I'll be somewhere, but it will be very hard to tell where or when.

Lee

P.S. Two unforeseen factors added in the two hours since I first posted this. Can I arrange for someone to kidnap me and my cameras and film on Thurs evening and release me Sunday evening? Will exchange technical advice and camera loans for kidnapping. PM me.

Done. Start by explaining Heisenberg^256 and tell me where to pick you up. We will discuss it over Indian Dinner.

APUG wouldn't let me post shortly after you asked. Seeing your later post about funds, an answer may not be needed. For anyone else.

“Photorama USA, Everything Photographic Show, new and used professional and digital cameras.” I like that last wording, professional vs digital.

This is a swap meet run every two months at the Quality Inn in Richfield, just south of the turnpike exit for Rt 77 and I 80. Lee & one son, Peter and I have been going for years. Attendance has fallen off both on the sales and buying end. The current economy may make it very slow, just a guess. That might effect how much was shown or how low sellers will go who do show. $6 entrance, $2 student. I am still a student. 10:00 AM to 3 PM Sunday. Lee & I get there when it opens. Peter has softer priorities.

I have found a lot of photo books, Jobo, luggage cart, stainless trays. I think Lee has bought some lenses and filters there, but would prefer he comment. The whole show is run by Igor Reznik of Igor’s Camera Exchange. He usually has nice high end stuff and prices to match.

Things happen fast there. One time I said to Igor, “Oh I wish I had known that you had a 250mm Wide Field Ektar. I bought one on eBay this week and would have preferred to buy it from you”. He said, “Don’t feel badly. I took it on trade ten minutes ago”.

I was planning on arriving Sunday at John's in the AM (not sure about Saturday yet). Then off to the show as I have something to pick up from Igor. From there, I was planning on going either to Nelson Ledges or to Quarry Rock Park (both favorites of mine). These locations are East of where John is by about 30-40 minutes, but very close to where I live. Perhaps this will work for people going East to return home?

My motives are only almost totally selfish. I have some work I'd like to finish at these spots, and I feel like I'm running out of time before the "big freeze". Only offering because I thought there was some interest in one or both of these locations. I suppose I could change my plans if I will henceforth be referred to as "the guest thief"?

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources will post a Fall Color report in the next 24 hours which I will copy and paste here.

"Updated reports are available from ODNR each Tuesday through early November."

Last week it wasn’t posted until 1 AM Wednesday. This week’s Tuesday report is still not posted at 8:30 AM Wednesday. I have tried refresh. Tell me if I am missing something. You may want to check yourself.

John,

I put in a request to ODNR to delay fall a week or two until I had more time to shoot, having missed it the last two years for other reasons. That's probably the reason for the delay.

Well, several of us were wondering about your hanging around grave yards thing, the detailed pictures of grave stones, especially new ones, your tendency to carry a shovel in the car, your reluctance to be out in the sun, those two teeth that seem to hang out over your lip.... Just wondering, mind you. Could there be a connection between this and "the guest thief" thing?

Name withheld to protect the wary. Disregard the Avatar. It is another person.
