Hi guys and gals.

I live in Raleigh, NC. I have been doing film(B&W) for more years than I care to tell you. I just got into 4x5 last year, after coming home from John Sexton's advanced printing workshop. Up until then I was shooting MF (hassie and p67).

I'm looking around in the Triangle area for a few 4x5 (or larger) shooters.

I'm retired and enjoy traveling. I would like to get together with LF photographers. I currently am a member of most of the camera clubs in the area, but every one seems to be are going digital and LF'ers seem to be scarce here!

I will be giving a MF and LF talk at the April 13 meeting of the Carolina Nature Photographers Assoc, at Durham Tech. I also will be giving the same talk at the Treybern Outdoor Photographers (TOPs) group in Treybern May 25.

Hi Gene,

I think you and I may have met once long ago at one of the first Carolina Nature Photographers meetings long ago. If not never mind. I'm down in Georgia so it's impossible for me to participate in the CNP group.

Seems like for them most part LFers are considered to be obsolete. You know there is a LF group in Florida.

There is a black and white photography group that has a lot of LF users, I am told. They meet in Chapel Hill on a routine basis. I am not a member of that group, but I do know some people that are.

Hey, I'm down in SC (just south of Charlotte). I haven't done any work with my 4x5 in a long time and I would love to get together to reaquaint myself. I'll be slow so you guys can take all the time you need to get your shot

Maybe we should plan something?

Bumping this back up. I was curious if anyone knew who/where the group of film/LF users in Chapel Hill (or anywhere else in the Triangle area) met?

I'm a member of the Triangle Black and White Group, it's a great bunch of folks. The group meets once a month on the third Tuesday from 7:00PM to 9:00PM at the Falconbridge Community Center in Chapel Hill, NC. from September thru June.

The group's focus is exclusivly wet darkroom black and white photography. It not LF specifically but many of the core participants are shooting and showing 4x5, with a bunch of MF and 35 as well (some of us use the "D" and "C" words also, digital and color that is, but in the group setting it's not discussed and never shown).

We've been group showing about twice a year, next up is the North Carolina State University Gallery of Art and Design in July. Group shoots are being discussed, and a website is coming soon. In the interim, please PM or e-mail me with questions or for our standard (long) blurbs about who we are.

The first meeting of the Central Carolinia LF group occured this last thursday.
Print viewing waas the main activity. Members were looking at the skill levels of the people present. I'm quite excited to let every one in Central North Carolinia know that is shaping up as a Master Photographer group. No second meeting has been scheduled at this time.

If you are seriously interested LF (4x5 and larger) and would like to get together ocassionally, please e-mail me.

latest news in the Triangle Area. We are forming a Master Photographers group.

Membership is by invitation only. A well respected local photographer/educator is
reviewing portfolos and Resumes. I personally have no input to the membership decisons. There are ~10 spots available. Five people have been juried in so far.
Rather impressive bunch so far. All media represented. So Silver, Digital, Pt, Lith, etc, etc workers are being added. Only restriction is work is "Naturalist Photography" (I'll let you figure out what this PC definition means)

Up date on NC. The Masters group now has six members. A number have not been invited becasue they did not the requirements (Deep Resume, Outstanding Portfolio and Temperment). The mix so far includes digital from both digital capture and film scanning, Silver B&W, slides and altenative processes.

We still have 2 slots available. Contact genecrumpler@bellsouth.net
