Noob questions on IR

Yes, the overlap is critical! Here is an example using a relatively "mild" IR filter, a IR680 on Ilford SFX 200. The light loss is huge and I had an EI setting of 6 on my meter to help guess exposures.

I don't know if you've seen this thread, or not, HiHoSilver, but this is one I started where I give some examples of Rollei IR400S shot under full sun. In the 1st post in the thread, the two IR shots were at EI 25, then screw the filter on, the two visible light shots were at EI 400, no filter. For the photos in post #5 of the thread , I give the EI values for each picture in the post. These are just straight lab scans, no manipulation on my part.

For my next trick, I think I want to try some white pantyhose or something over the IR filter to see if I can get that IR glow that HIE was famous for. It's about time for me to order some more IR400S, I'm on my last roll as of now.
