Non-linear agitation

Got some Tri-X 400 in the tank developing at the moment, Rodinal 1+50, 20c, 25 min, which seems to be a good time for Tri-X @ 1600 from what I've seen of other's work.

My agitation is as follows:
30 seconds initial continuous agitations, followed by 2 gentle inversions at these time intervals:
1 min
2 min
4 min
8 min
16 min


I was considering developing for much longer than 25 min after the last agitation without further agitation, but didn't want to get that risky with this particular roll


My question is, how does it look compared agitation per x minute in general? I just felt like trying this out of curiousity, negs are fixing atm, will have to wait till they dry as well to see the picture.

Your answer doesn't need to be scientific or based upon Tri-X and/or Rodinal. Example images would actually be nice.

I tried something similar last week with Pan F+. I developed normally for the first 3/4 of the time then let it stand for the final 1/4, while adding few extra minutes. I actually don't know the exact times, because I had a minor medical emergency, just after I started the development, and I don't know how accurate my count was without a timer.

Anyway, I was trying to see if I could get some extra shadow density without compressing the highlights. I don't know how well it worked, but the negatives turned out well. In fact, I just made one of my best prints to date from one of the negatives.

At any rate, I'll be doing some real testing on this in the future. (sans medical emergencies, I hope)

Can't you also try extending development is a second bath of Kodalk/Sodium MetaBorate?

I've been meaning to try this.
