Forgive me to ask a stupid question.

I just got a Beseler pm2L color analyzer, I'm reading the manual regarding Programming for Graded Paper (BW)

And i quote:

1 - Move the probe switch to CYAN and position the probe aperture under the projected image of the LIGHTEST part of the negative in which some detail is still visible.

2- ............

3- Move the Prove switch to WHITE and position the probe aperture under the projected image of a shadow area with detail. ......

Now the question is, in (1), The lightest part of the negative, so literally the lighter area on the projected image, or its talking about the lightest part of the print, which will be the dark area of the projected image from the negative? And vice versa in (3).

:munch:

Maybe you have an old manual.
This manual is pretty clear: http://www.125px.com/docs/manuals/darkroom/beseler/Beseler_PM2L_Manual.pdf

I have the Soligor/Melico SM20 meter and the text for the manual reads almost exactly like the PDF manual above. I fact the probe looks identical to the Beseler, but the main box is smaller.

Your version of the manual is A LOT different than mine, in my manual it mention using the cyan switch, not in this one. But it did cleared up what I was confused about. Its time to put 2 and 2 together. Thanks.
