I recently bought this camera at a fairly good price knowing it wasn't working (the camera would not fire when the shutter release was pressed) but unaware of how much it would cost to get repaired. When I contacted Precision Camera Works, they said it would cost at least $430 to overhaul the camera, plus more for whatever parts were needed to get it working again.
The estimate came back today from Bob Watkins at $890, so quite a bit higher. The list of work that needs done:
- Complete overhaul
- CLA
- Repair/replace battery contacts as needed
- Rebuild drive transfer wheel
- Remove and clean drum
- Install shutter speed dial stabilizer bushing
- Rebuild shutter speed rotary switch
Bob has an excellent reputation but $890 is more than I want to invest to get this remarkable camera operational again. I’ve decided to sell it. The camera will ship once it returns from the shop. Or perhaps the buyer might prefer to have Bob move forward with the work, and we could arrange for that.
It is in excellent physical condition and comes with no accessories, such as the slow exposure module. The tripod in the photos is not included. Naturally i am selling this as-is with no returns.
The asking price is $650. If coming from me, insured shipping to anywhere in the lower 48 states would be a flat $30. No international shipping. Payment via Venmo or Paypal Goods & Services.
Note: This is my first attempt to sell something on Photrio but I have sold on eBay for 25 years and have more than 2,000 positive feedbacks. User name is triple-snack.
