Noblex & Acros film winding problem

I have a Noblex 150 that I have been using with FP-4 with no problems. Well, at least no problems I can blame on the camera. However, when I tried a couple rolls of Acros the film did not wind tightly on the take up spool and was unusable. Anyone know any tricks to get Acros to wind tightly, or is it for some reason I can't fathom just incompatible with a Noblex? Thanks!

I don't know if it is relative but Acros is the only film my Rolleiflex auto sensor doesn't detect and I had to put a couple pieces of tape on the sensor roller to tighten up the feeler. Acros is so smooth and slick and the tape is plastic and very thin (more like scotch tape than masking tape). I don't know if that would have an affect on your camera. Surely the tightness of the film isn't dependent on the viscocity of the emulsion. Maybe if you just give extra drag to the film roll with your finger as you start it on.

A small piece of foam against the supply reel may add enough tension to solve the problem. This is a common problem and cure with Holgas.

Hi Richard,

I have serial #66 of the Noblex 150s. For Acros, three things help: use a Fuji spindle on the take-up side and take advantage of the QL system hole, that wya you know it isn't slipping around the take-up spool; keep tension with a thumb on the left while loading; last, put two layers of blue (easy removal) masking tape on the chrome pressure spring on the take up side. The slippery backing on Acros seems to be the problem.

Yes a Fuji take up spool will help. Acros is a much thinner film than FP4 and needs a little more care when using it.

I use it with my Fuji 6x9 and I have to make sure to hold the film flat when starting a new roll.
