No Film Sold at Costco

Rite-aid has a buy one, get two deal on their house brand 400 speed film- comes out to $10 for eight rolls. Packaging says its made by Fuji. Cheap for testing out a camera or a kids party. Costco here ran out of film a couple months ago. That price ending in a "7" meant it was not going to be restocked.

I've got to get there! You mean buy one roll get 2 free? Or buy one 4 pack, get one free?

Why do you care? It's 10 bucks for 8 rolls. That means $1.25 per roll, no matter how it is packaged.

Glazer's still has a wall of glass door refrigerators for film and colour paper. They also have lots of chemistry and B&W paper and darkroom accessories and lighting equipment and books ...

It's in their lighting store, across the road from their main store (which still has some useful film cameras and accessories).

I travel down from Vancouver for the experience.

Up our way, Beau Photo has some decent stock as well, but they are only open Monday through Friday during the day.

I just got the last 4-pack they had at my Rite-Aid. It was ISO 200, so it was actually only $4.25 after tax ($1.06 per roll). It said clearance-50% off (reg. 7.99). I don't know if that will go until they sell out in every store, but it should. So if anyone is contemplating buying some, it might be worth a look at Rite-Aid even after this week.

They also had single rolls that were not marked as being on clearance sale...so it does matter how they are packaged.

It is definitely Fuji (either Superia 200 or Super HG 200..whatever the difference or lack of difference is between those two, I don't know and don't care. They "look" identical to me.

CVS DOES carry a lot of film!

I just want to confirm what a few people were saying about CVS Pharmacy having film. It's true! I was there about maybe a week ago, just to buy a soda. And I was really shocked. They had a TON of film. It was mostly Kodak and Fuji, and yes they even had 400 Tri-X! I usually buy my black and white film from a camera shop that's near where I live, or I order it from Freestyle Photo Supplies. But I don't remember the last time that I've ever walked into a corner drug store and actually saw real black and white film! I bought a roll just for the heck of it. And the thing is, it looks like they regularly stock it. They had one area that was all film and disposable cameras, and all the shelves were full. The Tri-X had an expiration date of 2011!

Thats brown, steaming and comes out of the back end of cow(e)s, and it ain't the Isle of white ferry!
I'd like them to tell that to a large online image bank like Getty or Corbis, who have attack lawyers fed on raw meat kept chained up in a dark basement for just such an occasion

Deal at Rite-Aid was buy one, get one free on their four-packs of 400 speed. Some stores had 200 speed four packs on 1/2 price clearance.

I can see what you mean about CVS. Longs Drug is being taken over by CVS. Their policy was to let local managers decide on a lot of the stock and their local store just had the usual Kodak/Fuji 400 speed stuff at wild prices. Last week when I looked Tri-X had made a reappearance. CVS may be a good influence in that respect.

without revealing too much. The images are not only copyrighted under US law when you click the shutter, but being paranoid, the images' copyrights are already registered. District manager didn't really care, but I feel like their legal team is going to.

Well, my wife found single use Kodak cameras at the newest Wegmans to open hereabouts. So, they apparently do still cary the film and cameras in some stores. We still have not found any processing in the stores though.

When I travel for work I usually stuff a small rangefinder and a few rolls of color negative film in my pocket for shapshooting during my free time. When I run out, CVS has been my best bet for finding what I like to use, which is 36-exposure Kodak Ultra Max 400. (I like Portra 400NC too, but I certainly wouldn't expect to find that in a convenience store.)

Many places still carry some color negative film, but often it's only 24 exposures, or only ISO 200, or both.

I was in the local (Mishawaka, IN) Meijer's last night and they had a pile of Fuji's B&W film in 35mm at $4-something a roll. Also some 200- and 400- speed color film and... transparency film! $8+ a roll but it amazed me that they carried it at all.
