I took delivery today of a 4 reel (35mm reels) Brooks stainless steel developing tank. The tank came with six 35mm 36 exp. reels. The reels have the same wire center as Nikor reels and I think they may be Nikor reels. The Brooks tank is marked Made In USA on the bottom. I compared one of these reels with a (Honeywell) Nikor 35mm 36 exp. reel which has never been used. The new Nikor reel is very nicely polished. The insert which came with the reel is from October of 1969. Somewhere I have some 35mm Brooks reels which are new in the box. When I looked at photos online, the Brooks and Nikor reels look very similar. Could Nikor have supplied reels to Brooks? The three four reel Brooks tanks all have welded on bottoms. My four reel Nikor tanks all appear to be extruded.

On a separate but related note, after production of Nikor tanks and reels ended in West Springfield, MA, they continued in Japan. I don't consider the stainless steel Nikor tanks from Japan anything special but the 35mm Nikor reels from Japan are very nice. They have a center similar to that of a Hewes reel. I must have five of six of those now. They came in a blue box.
