Haven't used my Nikonos in years and am trying to open the bottom battery compartment without damage. The compartment loosens, but I can't get the cover to raise high enough above the baseplate to remove the battery holder. I'd guess the seal is holding it in place. Any suggestions? Thanks--jonpaul.

This is how I did it.

Couldn't find anything that addressed this problem; So: I placed a cold pack against the battery compartment screw-off cover, and after some time, the seal contractred enough and I could them screw off the cover and grasp it with my fingers, No damage, just patients. By the way: I had a difficult time finding a CR-1/3N battery locally; Amazon has them. - -Jonpaul.

Seemed to have the same problem. Was able to pry the 'lid' with my finger nail. Now I'm not sure if this tight seal has caused another problem namely that the inside screw rings are slightly wobbly and I have no battery continuity. I'm not sure how to fix this continuity problem with the loose rings. Any advice? Not sure anyone will read this after 16 years! 😀
