Hello fine people! My preferred combination for bird photography is the Nikon F100 and 300mm f4 PF. (Although the lens can only be used wide open, that is perfectly fine for my purposes.) I would like to try the lens with a 1.4x teleconverter, but I'm not sure if I should be using the series II or III version. Of course I would like the combination to perform as well as possible, but I'm not smart enough to determine the correct compatibility. If anyone can help, I will be most grateful!
Warm regards,
Joseph

I would think the newer Version 3 would be the best. TC's are funny; some combinations work better than others. I would hope you try a few frames with a digital to check that you like it before committing film on the F100. I have a TC-14e V.1 and its not very pleasant on a 500mm f/4, the TC-14b is better.
