Nikon should issue a recall on F100 backs!

Yes this is a well known problem (and for those of you have have not had it happen, please post to tell us).

I am told that even installing a replacement back could mess up the electronics, is that true?

There are a bunch of F100s on ebay listed as 'for parts' as their backs are broken, or missing because the camera broke and had the good bits removed.
I've never seen a broken F6.

I'm going to hold the latch open when I close the back on my F100, to put less strain on the latch.

The F100 was discontinued in 2006. Recall them for a problem now?

It is hard to know if there is a durability issue with new products, ten years in and clearly it is an issue.

The plastic hooks that hold the F100's back closed and secured are flimsy and can break easily. It is a well known problem and has also happened to me.

Pulling the latch while closing the back certainly helps.

My camera broke last week and I thought I would ask my question (hope to get an answer) here as opposed to starting a new thread

Really. There is money to be made on various parts that have a history of failing. So we have:

- Nikon door latch
- Retina IIa exposure counter flat spring
- Leicaflex SL lens release tab

Gotta be others.
