Nikon SB-24 and F100

hello

a beginner asks about the compatibility of the Nikon F100 and the SB-24, specifically whether TTL is an option...differing viewpoints here--some argue that manual mode on the flash is the only option, others comments seem to contradict (possibly a misread):

how to interpret the GN, according to the linked article:

Guide number (ISO 100, in): 118 (ft), 36 (m)

do we simply multiply that 118' figure by the f stop being used?

Guide number divided by distance equals aperture setting. That GN is for 100 film; if using different film adjust GN accordingly.

Well sure it can use TTL! The camera mode will be different with different lenses. Metering will not be matrix with all lenses, I think that only works with auto focus.
Flash will ttl with camera in A mode just fine. You can set the flash in TTL and put the camera in A. The change the aperture and hear the difference in recharge cycle time depending on the aperture setting.

You'd have to go back to the SB-10 that doesn't have TTL capabilities to need to shoot without TTL.

Gn's are determined by the maker and are normally based on a distance of 10 feet(US consumption) and ISO 100 so 118 = f12.
Doesn't answer anything about the ttl though.
