I want to shoot some slides of old cars and such at a local junkyard. But cameras are not permitted. So think kind of rules out strolling in with the EOS 3 and 24-70L. My brother has a Nikon Nice Touch 2 point and shoot that I could easily sneak in there. But I know that point and shoots are generally made with negative film in mind. Will it do a respectable job shooting Kodachrome? Has anyone here actually tried it?

I'd think the main issue is that the exposure is probably optimized for faster film than Kodachrome. The little flash might provide enough fill, though.

The problem with most P&S cameras w/DX is the default speed setting.
Do you have the manual to check the specs.
If the DX sensors don't recognize a film speed they automatically go to 100ASA.
If you used 64 it would underexpose.

I have used Kodachrome and other slide film with other similar Nikon P&S
cameras as well as other brand P&S cameras of the same era with excellent
results.
