I finally replaced my N90s with the N80 because the N80 can work with all of my more modern lenses...Sigma 18-35 f1.8 Art, Tamron 45 f1.8, Tokina 11-20 f2.8, and Tamron 70-200 vc. Only the Tamron 45 f1.8 vc and Tamron 70-200 vc are "full frame." The others won't vignette at the longer ends. And even the VC works too. However, I noticed that the viewfinder optics are PLASTIC and not coated. It has a lot of glare and, unless I put my hand over my left eyes, the image in the viewfinder gets a bit foggy. I even opened up the N80 and to remove the viewfinder optics and to use polishing compound to try to brighten up the image quality on the viewfinder. It didn't help with the brightness though.

If you have a N80, is that what I should expect from the viewfinder viewing quality??? Or maybe there are issues with my viewfinder optics??? Is small..I see why the N90s is more "pro." Too bad the body isn't compatible with my lenses..

From N/F80 user manual:

CAUTION: About viewfinder
The viewfinder will be dark without battery power but brightens after installation
of fresh batteries. This is not a malfunction.

Check this and report here

I know That.....My observation is when the body is turned ON, in fully operation mode.

I looked at it some more. It appears shielding my left eye improves the viewfinder clarity and brightness by at least 20%.

I'll bet that if you close your other "left eyes" it will get even better!
