I picked up a Nikon EM from ebay for $15. It looks to be in new shape and was stated to be working perfectly. The price was such because it was missing the battery cover. I happened to have a spare so I bought the camera.
When it showed up - yes looks like new. Butt one problem. The meter coupling lever that lets the camera know what aperture is set was broken. It was loose, just flopped around whereas it is meant to be spring loaded.
I wrote to the seller, and they apologized and said just keep the camera. And immediately posted a refund.
No issues there.
But what to do with this beautiful camera? I looked up fixes online, and in involved major disassembly, replacing 'string' etc. I looked at the camera. Cut a tiny piece of electrical tape and fixed it! All I did was make sure the coupling tab was touching the ring on the lens, and taped it together. No issues changing aperture, it rotates with the aperture ring:
Ok, so whenever I change the lens I need to peel back this tiny piece of tape, then put it back. Not exactly a big deal since I pretty much will not be changing lenses often with this camera. That's what my big boys (F2, F6 etc) are for. The EM is to have a tiny pocketable SLR.
Anyway, in case anyone else needs to 'fix' their meter coupling lever.
