-) You warn against using "rubbing alcohol". However to my understanding (that term is not used here) it means the same as the solvents you advise to use.
(Best would be solvents without any additions.)
-) The term "JIS screwdriver" is not known over here, even not at the industry manufacturing apt profiles.
-) Where did you get that cog? From old Nikon stock, from a donor Drive, had it made by a machinist, got a generic cog with same module?

Rubbing alcohol are the ones sold over the counter for disinfecting and rubbing onto your skin. these have scents and moisturizers which are essentially oils. Get the ones used for alcohol burners or for industrial use. These are pure alcohol mixed with a percentage of water or mixed with another type of alcohol like 95% methyl and 5% isopropyl, etc.
Exactly, JIS means Japanese Industrial Standard. Almost all tools made and sold within Japan is JIS compliant. It may or may not have a round JIS sign printed on the tool. VESSEL brand drivers are JIS compliant.
The cog is being sold here by a shop. I know a cheaper alternative to be honest but I do not want to mention it because I do not want people to go out and experiment and end up buying the wrong kind and blaming me for their mistakes. Yes, Sover sells them. You can email him, he is a nice guy.
