So I recently picked up an Fm2 which wasn’t working at all. Shutter wasn’t firing, couldn’t wind on, everything was broken. There was blue corrosion all over the body which I’ve cleaned off with a wire brush and it looks much better.

The shutter has no dents in it at all which is miraculous. This is the main reason for the repair.

After a bit of disassembly, the shutter fires ok at most speeds. 1 sec is a bit slow.

Unfortunately the meter only switches on for around 5 seconds or so when the frame advance lever is out and the shutter button is pressed. I tested the meter again my F2AS and it seems relatively accurate.

When the shutter button is pressed, there’s a light crunching sound which makes me think that there is crud underneath the shutter button mech which is getting in the way of the shutter button contact with the sensor which activates the 30 second meter on/off timer. I’ve had a look at an detailed repair guide, and using common sense, it could be the issue.

Before I go and strip the entire thing, has anyone else found this issue before? If it’s not worth my time (ie it’s the electronics going) I’ll just sell it as parts.
