Nikon FM2 Loading crank

Hi guy's,

I need help with an issue. With my prakticas I didn't had this problem but now with my nikon fm2, since I still don't have a bottom cap for the lens (Tokina 28-75 zoom), I need to carry the camera with the lens on. That's when I noticed a problem that never had ocurred to me. The reloading crank moves very easily which makes loading the right frame incorrectly (less frames or maybe one beside another I presume). Is there a way to stop this or always reloading the film back until it's hard is a proper solution?

I am not sure if you mean the winding lever to go forward or the rewind lever to rewind the film at the end of a roll, when you write "reloading crank". If the problem is the wind lever being able to continue winding without a hard stop at the next frame, then I have had that problem with an FE and the fix was to remove the bottom plate and slightly bend a metal pawl. A fqirly common issue with Nikon FM/FE/FM2/FE2 series.

Sorry, it's the winding lever/rewind knob xD
So basically, when I advance the film, the lever shouldn't go round? It should be locked?

The term winding lever typically is used to indicate the lever to transport the film forward for next exposure.

Anyway, the film can't move significately (if at all) in the film channel.

When you wind the film from one frame to the next using the lever on the top right side of the camera, the round rewind crank on the upper left side of the camera will turn as the film moves.

That lets you know that the film is correctly loaded and is really advancing.

It turns correctly. But if the rewind knob turns a little since the space on my bag is tight, should I ignore it?

That is okay. No harm will be done.

I understand your concern now. If the rewind knob on the top left side moves a little when the camera is in the bag or rubs against something, it should not be a problem. The sprockets in the winding mechanism, along with the pressure plate in the camera back will hold the film in place.

Ahhh. Alright. Since I didn't had this problem I was scared that I was dumping a roll or than when my camera was fully restored, this was left out.
