A friend of mine just got a very good condition Nikon FM. Looks like it was not used much. I started checking it out for them and it seems to have a problem.

I ran it through all the shutter speeds many times and all seems good. Every now and then the shutter will stay open.
Nothing I do will make it close. Then all of the sudden it closes by itself and all is good again.

Could this be from the age and not being used very much?

Thanks

Peace

Best place for that? Not sure if spending more than was paid for it to get a CLA.

I'm in the US

Having it CLA'd would make it known in good working order for another while.

I have used this place successfully and they will give you a free quote as well as warranty after -> Camera Repair Japan.
I've bought many products from Dead Link Removed but have never tried their repair service.

I've had my original FM since I purchased it new in the mid-late 70's. I've had it CLA'd once or twice. Damn thing still runs like new
