Hi all,
does anyone know their way around the inside of the mirror box in a Nikon FM? I've rescued a few basket-cases of the FM series recently, but this one is puzzling me. It's the second incarnation of the FM series, the one without the knurled ring around the shutter button to move control to the MD-11 winder. In the first incarnation of the FM, you could only get to the screen via the prism, lifting it out meant you could get to the screen. In the second incarnation, you could get to the screen via the mirror-box, take out a screw and the screen can drop down. However, I'm wondering if I have a part missing. The screen sits within a thin frame, but when put into place there is still free-play up and down even when the screw is done up. I'm wondering if there is another frame that acts as a spacer to keep the first frame in place. I've not been able to find a parts list or repair manual for this version of the FM anywhere, nor do I have another one of this version, so I'm working in the dark. It would be nice to get this last piece sorted as the rest of it works beautifully now.
