Nikon Fires back

So what? The world keeps spinning around in the same direction, it'll change NOTHING.

If you are a sports photographer, it **might** help you to catch this one and only decisive moment.

Any shitty MF camera with a good lens and a slide film will deliver more quality if digitized with a hi res scanner like the Coolscan 9000 or Imacon.

For 35mm I still prefer my F4s because it still feature zero time lags at start up, shooting sequences, etc.

I don't understand who is firing what. In my eyes it'll remain a pimple counting for good pimples, hot pimples, bad pimples, color fringing pimples and you know what else

My post wasn't intended to be an invitation to Film vs. Digital discussion. It's purpose was meant for those interested in Nikon DSLRs.

Me? I'm a Canon user but shoot film mostly. So let's not start these type of discussions.

If it does devolve into a Film vs. Digital diescussion I'll ask the moderators to lock the thread.

Get a colour meter, take a reading and use the recommended filtration and adjust exposure to compensate for the filter factor -- easy as pie.

I'd love the D300for all the things I need quick and good, the D3 is over kill for my needs. FWIW I much prefer Nikons and own an FE2 that I use on occassion.

DXO Optics Pro provides quite a few different film profiles you can choose from including K64!

Hey Don, thanks for posting that. Looks like a nice addition for Nikon. I still
use film, mostly MF, and I still love my old film Nikon and have some nice
lenses for it. At some point I know I'll add a DSLR to my bag, probably Nikon
because of my lenses, so this is interesting news to me.

Don, my apologies, I didn't want to start a digital - analog discussion either. Just wrote my opinion.

I'm sure all analog photograhpers are watching the development of the so called 'new technology' to a certain extent.

In the case of Nikon they have done a great job to cover all media and news, like Apple used to do with the iPhone.

Unless any manufacturer will present a d-cam with 22 MP full format and great dynamic range for an affordable price, I just read the headlines and skip the rest, because none of the new stuff can do anything better than I can do with my 'olde & outdated' equipment.

Instead of DXO you can check LightZone which gives you the same features with a much more simplified GUI for the 'traditional' photographer. It's based on Zones, gives you tools for white points and color correction, etc. The basic version already is very impressive if you don't shoot 800 images per day. LightZone is - IMHO - the very fist real digital darkroom for photographers who know what they want to achieve.
