Hello,
I recently replaced the focusing screen in a Nikon FE I have, but I inserted it incorrectly in it's carrier, and this caused the screen to become lodged and stuck in the camera.

I was able to get it out, but I now wonder if this caused damage, and the focusing screen no longer fits where it's meant to be, and my focus alignment is now off. Maybe it caused the spring that holds the screen in place to warp, and now it is no longer aligned?

Has anyone ever been in this situation?

Check to see if the lens is attached correctly. For the camera, is the f/stop correctly set for the light meter? Is the battery fresh.

You have the camera. So you can check if the focus is correct or off. We can't.

You can start by focusing on a faraway object and seeing if the lens scale is at infinity. It is unlikely that anything has changed with the lens, lens mount, or the position of the film plane, so if the lens scale agrees with the focusing screen, then you are probably ok and can test it on film (or with a groundglass on the film rails for extra credit).
