Yours, but for instance, the ORWO cine-camera-films have a TAC base.

I don't think the film base has much effect on the OP's fogging as most all films, unless protected by a paper backing, can be fogged from the base side, as in the case here.

My film canister may have sat a bit, once exposed, I think.
In these conditions, I wonder if a minute cassette felt leak could affect mainly the one frame facing the cassette slot, and, as in my case, and another frame under the first layer, but to a lesser degree?.
I need to inspect my respective frame numbers, and also check what film it was.
How often would you find a faulty cassette?
Other: could this be processing problem?

That would answer my mid-film question.

I'm circling back to this with what I figured out – I had some light leaks on my Contax G2 from a similar timeframe that were also sporadic. When I checked my logs of which rolls did and did not show leaks, the ones that did were with some color stock from the same company. Retail rolls from Fuji had no leaks.

So the takeaway is that the F6 is fine – I've subsequently used it on two trips shooting eighteen rolls – based on the scans of the first trip of nine rolls, there's been no problems – and left that Yashica badged film behind. When I use that Yashica film moving forward, I'll put gaffer over the film window, and might load it in the shade to be safe.
