Nikon F6 is not discontinued

You know, even if it goes completely out of production, it will make little to no difference.

There is a near infinite supply of perfectly good used models on the market.

It is also nice that a Canadian Nikon comes with a 2year warranty -- in the USA it's a 1 year warranty. On a machine as complicated and as new as the F6 warranties are very nice to have if not a must.

F6's price recently went up by $400 according to B&H's listing.

It's actually only one year as it is a pro camera and all of their pro cameras are limitied to a one year warranty.

Interesting how the B&H site lists the E-type focus screen as a "required accessory" for the F6 - I'm quite sure that the F6, discontinued or not, came with a B-type focus screen as standard.

Nikon F6 goes on... good news!

Hi to all,
I just think news of discontinued material is often rumors only.
It's like that issue about production of 35mm film that will sson be extict! Forget it (for the time being and many more years), half of our planet still used film cameras. See in Asia, Africa and Latin America, most people don't have access to expensive digital cameras...and you needf a computer, etc, etc.
So, my view is that analog cameras can be used for many more years. And I can still use my FE and F3. Yahoo!!

Don't dream it, do it! I have done it recently, bought a new one, and I am very very happy! The best camera I have ever had, it's a dream machine .

Astonishing: Here in Europe you get the Nikon worldwide warranty with 3 (!) years for the F6.

The F6 should still be able to withstand it. I distinctly remember a photo from the brochure, a F6 with 50 mm lens covered by a thick layer of yellow dust. Probably been to a rodeo. The implication was that it wasn't fazed in the least, still klicking away, producing (fuzzy) photos.

I live in Brazil (Latin America) and just want to comment, and update, your information about "half of our plante still use film".

I have to import film and developers. Every once in a while I can see Neopan 400 for sale in a store near my job. This is the best film that I can found here with no effort.

In a few cities I can find Ilford films. The color film is slowly going away, but you can find it easy (fuji and kodak basic products mainly).

The mass is digital exclusively and they love your point and shoot and superzooms. Computer is something banal and cheap.

Here is the paradise of digital photography business. But me and some others still use film (and digital).

I still believe that film will by available for many years (color and bw). Black and white may be among us forever.

the f6 is small,it is a masculine beast,very much in tune with it's feminine side.
and the best slr i have ever had.

Hi Christoph,

you are absolutely right concerning the F6. It is an outstanding camera with the best ergonomics I have ever experienced with a 35mm SLR. And I have worked with all professional 35mm SLRs in the past.
F6 is the best 35mm SLR ever made. I enjoy mine more and more every day.
It is not only the best AF-SLR, but even the best MF-SLR, because with the interchangebable screens it is perfect for MF use, especially with the new Zeiss ZF lenses (they deliver an incredible performance). F6 with Zeiss ZF lenses = perfect match for MF.

Agreed. Funny thing is, I can discern my ZF f/1.4 50 mm lens phototographs on a contact sheet right away, only with a cursory look. Talk about a lens signature! Must be the Dead Link Removed.

I noticed those the other day, but nobody else seems to have them. I wonder if Nikon is still manufacturing them, or if they are just selling off their remaining stock? The F6 seems to be a rare beast these days, I am looking to buy one, but KEH rarely has them, and they only show up on eBay every so often.

So may I ask a sidebar question of those who own and use the F6 with black and white film? How does the metering system react when you use a colored filter over the lens? Thanks, Tim.

Got mine from KEH last year for $1K. It was rated EX+, but I can't tell it was ever used. Loathing of film cameras certainly has its benefits. I have not used it for B&W, but I too would be interested if there are any issues with filters. I would think spot and area metering would work fine. The matrix RGB metering (since it considers color in the exposure equation) might get a little confused.
