So I was bored today, and I saw my nikon F5 sitting on my shelf. As many of you probably know, it was water damaged by too much rain, and stopped working.
I stuck some batteries in it, and to my surprise it powered on again! I tested everything, and the only thing not working is the focus motor, it focuses to the closest distance[opposite of infinity] and stops there, but I guess manual focus is fine. Unless there's a easy fix... It even still shoots 8FPS, and works with my SB600!

Marko, are they not suppose to be waterproof? I mean not to drop it in a bucket but it should be able to sustain heavy rain.

Yeah it is supposed to be, but I think the problem was the lens mount not being sealed, as the focus motor no longer works correctly.

I mean not to drop it in a bucket [of water]

Professional Nikons are not waterproof, but Nikon F's and F2's (plain prism) were able to stand complete immersion for a brief period of time and to resume normal operation after drying out. Even after a dip in the ocean they were known to recover after a thorough rinse/immersion in several changes of fresh water and a dry-out.

One thing I don't like about the F5. I used it to shoot a house show last night, and the batteries were low. I had a choice between using the camera and the flash. I gave up and used my DSLR.
