That's a great find. I'd never heard of this misspelling of the word.
The cassette must conduct some electricity that create a DX code that doesn't make sense. I use cassette without code in mine and it would should as if it's ISO100 if I set the camera to DX.
Plastic cassette???
It's similar to getting pwned.
Back when I was collecting vinyl records the music forums had the concept of a scroe, which is a deliberate misspelling of the word, score. A typical scroe was finding an extremely rare and valuable record at Goodwill for a dollar.
I just got the camera version of a scroe. I bought a pristine Nikon F5 that was considered for parts only because when the previous buyer put film in it, the camera gave an error code and would not shoot. I figured I’d take a gamble. Worst case scenario I could use the finder on my beater F5 which has a badly dented finder and I could use the battery tray given that my beater’s battery tray was wonky. Or maybe it could be repaired for cheap.
Turns out the previous buyer had the iso set for using dx labeled film and was putting in non-dx film! Try it, the camera gives an error code and won’t work. But set the iso manually and bingo, nothing wrong.
A like new camera for parts only price. I love getting a scroe!
Welcome to Photrio!
Enjoy your scroe!
At one time I owned all the Nikon F cameras. The F4 is a great camera but for me the F5 made more sense as I was gravitating toward G lenses. The layout is similar to the digital SLRs so it just became easier to use. I do love the dials on the F4 but over time the command dials became ingrained into my head. Funny, of all the F cameras I owned the F3 was my least favorite. Funny because it is so loved by others. Maybe I had a bad copy or more likely my eyes aren’t good enough for manual focus anymore.I have a F4, great with MF lens, thinking about a F5 for the better auto Focus as I have a couple of mid level AF lens.
Thanks. I had been lurking for years. I tend not to post often on forums so typically don’t join. But this is such a great forum for someone stuck in the analog age like me, i.e., old fart.
